Are you “woke”* vis-vis-vis global warming and the coming-any-day-now destruction of the coral reefs, the arctic ice pack, polar bears, coastlines, the flora, the fauna, you, me, and the entire natural world as we know it? Me neither. That’s because I elect to look past the first dozen or so results from a Google search of “global warming”, “climate change”, and related topics.

Why Leaving the Paris Climate Accord Could Be a Good Thing
The climate change debate is too complex, agenda-driven, and politicized to be addressed adequately in these pages. But the hysteria and faux outrage over President Trump’s decision to withdraw from the Paris Climate Accord is enough to incite a bad case of the red-keister. So, if you are in need of ammo to repel those who are experiencing intense displeasure from the decision, here are a few well-considered reasons why the result just might be the correct one. You should read the articles themselves, and you aren’t being asked to agree.
It wasn’t such a big deal to begin with. Foreign Affairs
The US’s pledge is more burdensome relative to baseline projections then the pledges of the other major emitters. Three of the six can increase their emissions. This article is not one-sided, and suggests the best policy would have been to remain in the PCA but revise it so our goals are more consistent with other major emitters. American Action Forum
The agreement would have burdened the US with huge costs and no economic benefits. Americans for Tax Reform

EPA Methane Rules Are Coming
“Remember, I can do anything to anybody”, deranged and murderous Roman emperor Caligula to his grandmother (Julia, widow of Tiberius and herself no stranger to things done to other people as and when they pleased).
In related news, the White House intends to limit methane pollution from thousands of existing oil and gas wells, pipelines…
More on the Moral Case for Fossil Fuels and Other Topics
My recent post about Alex Epstein and the moral case for fossil fuels told only part of his story. He also says that the global warming “alarmists” have it all wrong. He refers to “unambiguous” data that CO2 emissions have risen from an atmosphere concentration of .03% to .04%, while over the same period climate-related…
An Oil and Gas Rorschach Test
There is a “Rorschach” way to examine your thinking about the controversy over fossil fuels and global warming.
Psychologists use the Rorschach test to examine a person’s personality characteristics and emotional functioning. It’s been employed to detect underlying thought disorder, especially disorganized thinking as evidenced by disorganized speech. Try this on yourself.

Global Warming Threat is Worse Than Ever … Or It’s Not
Before we talk about global warming, which of these statements most matches your view of politics and policy:
“In all things the mean is praiseworthy, and the extremes neither praiseworthy nor right, but worthy of blame.” Aristotle.
“There’s Nothing in the Middle of the Road but Yellow Stripes and Dead Armadillos.” Title of a book …
Different Takes on the President’s Climate Change Policy
We begin with a tribute to global warming of a different sort.
For those not yet overexposed to reports on President Obama’s climate change policy announcement, I offer this reasonably objective factual summary of the highlights from the Washington Post (rather than the platitudes underlying many reports). A link to the text of the President’s…
HOW MUCH CONSENSUS IS THERE ON GLOBAL WARMING?
This post is not from a global warming denier. But I do appreciate even-handed assessments of the situation. Here are two reports that fit the bill.
In the London Telegraph, Geoffrey Lean says that recent research suggests climate change might not be as catastrophic as the gloomiest forecasts. But he warns that it will…
Fracking is an Ally Against Global Warming
It is difficult to resist shameless promotion of natural gas, especially when to do so makes sense. Here is an article by Bjorn Lomborg, A Fracking Good Story . Mr Lomborg is is an adjunct professor at the Copenhagen Business School, and founder and director of the Copenhagen Consensus Center and is known as a…
